Loved the Album of the Silver Anniversary. I wish you had listed
names under the pictures. I couldn't identify those "Old" & Bald"
people. Birdwhistell was as ugly and identifiable as ever. Most of
the others were a guess.
Thanks for the pictures and stirring up of all the wonderful
memories of that Entire Year! Being a Senior Sponsor that first
LCHS year was a great experience and interesting time to see
all of Logan County together ... even if it was on a Basketball Floor!
Planning and hosting the hospitality room for that first District
Tourney at LCHSwas also a memorable experience.
Wish I could have been there for the event, but since I couldn't,
thanks for sharing the evening.

I really enjoy your website,my family moved from Auburn many years ago, through the internet we have been able to look back and in some small way keep in touch. AsI was reading your blog I saw that Mr. Earl Gray Rogers had passed away .My father, Charles Allen always had kind words to say about Mr. Rogers who would lend my dad his truck sometimes to hall hay .His kindness will never be forgotten.

Thanks for all the great information about Logan County. During my four years there it became "home" for my family. The quality of life and the quality of the people there is amazing! Jim, your friendship has always been appreciated and this is a great example of you once again giving back to the community! Thanks and keep up the great work!

I can't tell you how nice it is to speak to someone who is knowledgeable about my town where I was born and all my family. It is a real pleausre. I look forward to going to Russelville and checking out the different places that I read about on your site. My kids would have loved going to Russelville for the cemetary event on Halloween. What fun! I'll keep checking your site for upcoming events. I have no doubt we'll visit more often.
Thanks for the great work you do. I wish I had met you years ago!

You all should come to the graveyard this evening (Thursday) for the Ghostly Cemetery Tours.  We had around 35 that came on Tuesday evening 6:30-8:30 pm. We had RHS students as the spirits but tonight we have people from Lisa and Holly at the Chamber to Wayne Thomas of the city to Eleana and her daughter of the newspaper to Pat Bell to Donna K. Stuart playing some of the 18 spirits. It should be fun.

jim:

keep it up man ... at least i know where to go to know what is going on in logan county ... it's a funny thing, i knew about the construction at the airport just as many people do, but our local paper has not touched on it since the announcement of the funding about a year ago.

there's just so much going on, but how would the folks ever know about it?

i guess from coming here ...

thank you.

Jim,
I know I have told you once but I would just like to say again how much I enjoy and appreciate your blog.

It is so nice to have a place to go and read what is going on locally. I realize how hard you worked when you were employed by the newspaper to keep the paper as "hometown" as possible. I wish everyone knew the effort you put forth to get those local names in print inside the pages of that paper.

Only as a last resort would you allow us to run what was called a "can" story. A story that means nothing locally, never has any local names in it and doesn't really hold any meaning for anyone except it fills space. Only when we just didn't have anything else to put on a page did you allow the newsroom to fill space with those kind of stories.

I wish everyone could know how hard you worked to see local events covered above all else. Local sports, school events, accomplishments of young people, all of those were far more important to you than having an easy day in the newsroom. If it meant we worked later than we wanted to, that is what we did.

That is why this site means so much to me, I finally get to touch base with Logan County again.

On a personal note, my other son, Daniel Cowan, left for basic training in Fort Jackson, S. C. on Aug. 26. As you know, his twin, Dusty, completed his basic training last year. And one of Dusty's good friends, Jacob Prince, grandson of Harold Prince, just returned from completing his basic training. Please remember these young men and women folks who are still volunteering to put on that uniform despite the fact that there is a real war going on.

Thanks Jim for the ten years we worked together in the newsroom and your continued hard work to keep the people of Logan County

Hello Mr. Turner:

I stopped by your produce stand at the market last Saturday and purchased the best watermellon I have had lately. It was every so yummy. I wish I had another one but a little far to drive for just a mellon.

Thank you every so much and have a great week.

What a great website. Logan and Beyond is very interesting and Trivia offers one a trip down memory lane. I moved from Russellville in 1957 and I will enjoy keeping up with news on your Blog. Yes, as was noted by Lucy Franklin in the Dorris & Lula Burchett article, I was one of many of the guys who 'rode the park bench' during our high school years.
